When her mother suggests they invite Thomas to visit their island, Jessie wonders glumly what she could possibly write in her letter that would sound as exciting as zoos, planetariums or video arcades. But as Jessie looks out over her island home, she sees a world of endless variety, from killer whales in the strait and bald eagles soaring overhead to anemones in tide pools and tiny hermit crabs on the shore. She thinks of countless days spent exploring, fishing, swimming and canoeing. This reissue of Jessies Island, which was originally published over twenty years ago, will introduce a whole new generation of children to the joy of unstructured play and the pleasures to be found in the natural world.1992 Sheryl McFarlane (P)2017 Orca Book PublishersContact me for any questions: [email protected]

"This boys name was Apache. Usen taught him how to prepare herbs for medicine, how to hunt, and how to fight. He was the first chief of the Indians and wore the eagle's feathers the sign of justice, wisdom, and power. To him and to his people, as they were created, Usen gave homes in the land of the West. Geronimo, on the origins of the Apache people. In Charles River Editors History for Kids series, your children can learn about historys most important people and events in an easy, entertaining, and educational way. Pictures help bring the story to life, and the concise but comprehensive book will keep your kids attention all the way to the end. The name Geronimo evokes a number of different emotions. Those who believed in 19th century Americas Manifest Destiny viewed Geronimo and all Native Americans as impediments to Gods will for the nation. Descendants of people killed by hostile Natives certainly considered warriors like Geronimo to be murderers and thieves whose cultures and societies held no redeeming values. Even today, many Americans associate the name Geronimo with a war cry, and the name Geronimo itself only came about because of a battle he fought against the Mexicans.Over time, however, the historical perception of the relationship between America and Native tribes changed drastically. With that, Geronimo, or Goyahkla, was viewed in a far different light. Those who empathized with the fate of the Native Americans saw Geronimo as one of a number of Native American leaders who resisted the U.S. and Mexican governments as their lands were being appropriated, often eluding large numbers of soldiers pursuing them. Unfortunately, Geronimos story and that of his people is very similar to those of the majority of Native America2013 Charles River Editors (P)2017 Charles River EditorsContact me for any questions: [email protected]

"Bhagavad gita is the immortal nectar given as milk by the cow Krishna to the calf Arjuna, for the benefit of all pious souls. It has the power to achieve the impossible. Let us study this with focus and devotion. This is the right time; use this present time well in learning, delve deep and satisfy your thirst to know God."

Pujya Sri Swamiji expressed His wish to see at least 18 children memorize all 18 Chapters of Srimad Bhagavad Gita during Karya Siddhi Hanuman temple inauguration in Dallas, TX in 2015. Astoundingly, inspired by the call and out of love for Pujya Sri Swamiji, Whom they lovingly call "Tataji", 43 children, as young as 7 years to 16 years memorized all 700 shlokas in less that 10 months. They also learnt the meanings of selected shlokas and got ready by the next year visit of Pujya Sri Swamiji to the US in summer 2016.

As part of HARI Program, children who have memorized the entire Bhagavad Gita have been spreading the importance and benefits of Srimad Bhagavad Gita Parayana by chanting the entire Bhagavad Gita at various household and organizations during the weekends.

This is the list of 108 of the most important slokas from the Bhagavad-gita As It Is (1972 Macmillan Edition) by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The index to these verses was taken from the Bhakti-sastri Study Guide compiled by Atmatattva dasa as used by the Bhaktivedanta Academy in Mayapur. [*Note for this collection of slokas, we are using the Original Translations rather than the later re-vised Translations. These were the Translations that Srila Prabhupada approved and which were memorized by heart, by all of the early disciples of His Divine Grace.]

Our children need guidance on how to navigate the journey of life. Our education system does not necessarily arm them with these tools. We teach them how to do calculations and how to conduct scientific experiments, but what do they do if they feel angry or jealous What if they feel depressed or down about themselves What if others make them feel this way How can they cope with the difficult challenges, that in different ways, we all face at some point in our lives The Gita contains the guidance we need, and we can give it to our children in a digestible and relatable way through our book. 153554b96e
