We've all come to know and love PIXIES for the moments when they stuck up for true freedom - where we hold our scissors high and wear the scars we made. and have grown to rely on. new reality that we'll sink with if we let them. So I've been waiting. We put on the room. But I don't know how many times I can say this. I think this is the last time.Fiscal year is almost at a close
ATLANTA -- Monday is the final day of Atlanta's fiscal year. To say the fiscal year is almost over is an understatement.
City officials are in the end stages of a multi-million-dollar budget -- a lot of horse-trading will happen.
The mayor's office is still trying to nail down details on nearly every line item in the city's $3.6 billion spending plan.
The city's operating budget for this fiscal year is about $6 billion. After last year's catastrophic weather conditions, the city will be forced to find money elsewhere to help close out the budget.
But some key decisions have already been made.
The mayor's office and City Hall are still in negotiations with the Atlanta Housing Authority over a new contract for the $638 million Millennium Homes Replacement program.
The city would pay the developer, Jefferson-Pilot, $50 million upfront, and the rest of the money would come from the federal government.
Officials say payments to the developer will be made in the form of over $100 million a year in 30-year low-income housing vouchers.
City officials say the replacement program is important because it will help Atlanta with its efforts to build 10,000 homes.
And while all budgets are put on hold until the contract is signed, property owners in some neighborhoods say the mayor's office is making major changes to the street name program -- and officials can't agree on what the changes are.
The name changes were supposed to help to target city resources where they are needed, but they're not exactly helping.
"I kind of like the way we used to have our names, and people still think of them," said Tim Powell.
But the mayor's office says the names are actually the same 0b46394aab
